LIBRARY INFORMATION

HOURS - Monday 9 A.M. to 8 P.M. (We close at 5:00 on Mondays if there is no school due to inclement weather or when staff is not available. Please call first.) Tuesday & Thursday 12 to 5, Wednesday & Friday - 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. & Saturday 10 A.M. - 2 P.M.

 

Cell Phone use is prohibited inside the library.  Please turn off or silence ringers.  Step outside to talk on phone. There is no public phone.

 

LIBRARY CARDS are free to West Virginia residents. Out of state residents pay a $10.00 per year fee.  If a replacement set is needed there is a charge of $3.00.  Children must be 5 years old to receive a card. Proof of residence and ID required. Patrons are required to present their own library card to staff every time they check out library materials.

 

FINES & RETURNS- Each day materials are overdue a 10-cent fine is added to your account.  Fines for books on tape and videos are $1.00 per day. Materials are not made due on days the Library is closed. Fines stop at $5.00 for each item. We allow a 2-day “grace period” before fines begin. There is a book drop next to the driveway-side door.

 

RENEWALS - All materials check out for 2 weeks (14 days). Call the library at 329-1499 or go to our web site and renew online.  You need to have your library card handy for either type of renewal. All materials are renewed for 14 days and can be renewed only two (2) times for a total of 6 weeks. Items cannot be renewed if there is on hold for someone else or if the renewal limit (2x) is met.

 

PATRON ACCOUNTS -. All (Family linked) accounts system wide must be kept in good standing in order to use Library services.  All books must be returned and fines paid in order to use the Internet & check out materials.

 

FREE INTERNET ACCESS - First time users must register at the circulation desk. The Library has 6 public access computers and unlimited WIFI capabilities. Users must sign in and out on the log sheet. There is a 1-hour time limit on our workstations & a 4 hour limit on wireless. Ask for a copy of the Library's Internet Policy for more info. We also have 2 laptops that can be used by patrons of the Library. Ask Staff for more Info.

 

COPY & FAX SERVICES - We can send or receive a fax for you.  Our fax number is 329-1499.  It costs 35 cents per page to receive a fax. We send faxes at a charge of $2.50 for the first page and .50 for each additional page. We no longer offer FREE f.axes.  Our photocopies are .35 per page & can be double sided.  We do not make color copies. You are required to pay for all pages printed from the Internet. We also have a microfilm reader/printer for public use. Copies are 35 cents each.

 

PRESCHOOL STORY HOUR - Wednesday mornings during the school year at 10:00 A.M.  Check the Highlights newsletter or our web site for a schedule of events.

 

CHILDREN'S SUMMER ACTIVITY PROGRAM - Wednesday afternoons from the middle of June to the middle of August at 2 P.M. we have activities for children ages 3-12.  Check the Highlights newsletter for scheduled events. We also have a Summer Reading program for children every year.

 

CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS PARTY - Usually held the last Saturday before Christmas at 9:00 A.M.  Pre-registration is required for Ages 0-12. Sign-ups start the week Thanksgiving.

 

BOOK SALES - We hold two book sales per year. One is held in June and one in December.  We accept donations of books and magazines during the month before each book sale. (We do NOT accept textbooks and encyclopedias)

 

INCOME TAX FORMS - We are given free tax forms by the federal and state of WV. If  we do not have the form you need, we can get it at a cost of 25-cents per page. Go to irs.gov for free printable forms. The library does not prepare individual income taxes. 

 

AVAILABLE MATERIALS - We have magazines, videotapes, DVD’s recorded books: cassettes and CD, computer software, reference materials and over 40,000 books in our collection & we can get

loans from other libraries.  We require that you pay postage to ship it back. There is a limit of 6 videos and 6 books on tape per adult card only. Contractors testing manuals and some other materials require a cash deposit. Although or library does not have e-books we can put you in touch with two free resources that offer e-materials in our area.
